Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, beat the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team ran a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he spun at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese slid over the exit kerbs before spinning across the gravel trap, and was lucky to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the last turn on to the main straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619secs off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
