Approximately twenty-five thousand households in Queensland's southeast were left experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events swept through the region, producing wind gusts hitting 109 kilometers per hour.
Massive Hailstones and Widespread Damage
Residents witnessed substantial frozen pellets measuring up to seven centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Meanwhile, around 1,000 households in the southern state also encountered electricity disruptions after Melbourne recorded its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services responded to nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, primarily for property damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

Weather Forecast
Damp conditions were expected to linger along large portions of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
The following day was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with continued thunderstorm potential expected across multiple regions of both states.
Health Warning
Medical authorities warned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
